Castle Douglas and the neighbouring towns hosts a great variety of events over the year and the surrounding countryside has many attraction for the visitor to get involved in.

Nearby is the Galloway Sailing Centre and the Loch Ken Water Ski School both of which welcome visitors. Loch Ken is also a popular centre for coarse fishing, particularly for large pike. There is also a choice of river and loch fishing for trout and salmon nearby.

Dumfries and Galloway has over 30 golf courses. Castle Douglas has a nine hole course and the clubhouse is only a five minute walk from the house. Within a few miles drive there are several 18 and 9 hole courses available.

Three of the 7Stanes mountain biking centres are less than an hour’s drive away and there is provision at the house for secure overnight cycle storage. The Galloway hills are very popular with walkers and mountain bikers and again access is available less than an hour’s drive away.
